Fusion Drops Its International Calling Rates
Calls to the U.S. for 15 Yen per Minute Beginning September 1
Lowest Rate Among MYLINE Carriers
On August 1, Fusion Communications Corporation registered lower international call
charges with the Minister for Public Management, Home Affairs, Posts and Telecommunications.
The consumer response to the telephone services inaugurated by Fusion on April 1 has
been tremendous, with more than 500,000 subscriber lines registered to date. As of September 1, Fusion will
be reducing international call rates substantially.
Fusion's fee schedules for domestic long-distance and international calling are characterized
by their simplicity: flat per-minute rates 24 hours a day. The current charge for a call to the United States
mainland is 30 yen per minute; as of September 1, this rate will be lowered to 15 yen per minute. Rates to
other areas will be reduced by a maximum of 75%. As a result of this change, Fusion's international rates
for calls made to major countries (the United States, China, the UK, etc) will be the lowest in the industry,
24 hours a day. (Please refer to the accompanying "Table of Per-Minute International Calling Rates to
Major Countries.")
Fusion was able to enact these significant changes to its fee schedule as a result
of extensive negotiations with a number of global carriers to ensure that multiple carriers provide interconnection,
thus maximizing the benefits to Fusion's customers. The company's highly efficient operations pass the cost
savings on to customers.
Fusion's domestic long-distance rates have attracted many customers to Fusion, and
Fusion is confident that the forthcoming change in the company's fee schedule will attract many new international-calling
customers in the three months remaining during which users can register their desired MYLINE carriers free
of charge.
