Fusion and Yamaha Team Up on Corporate IP Telephone Terminals
Broadband VoIP Routers "RT56v" and "RTA55i" Compatible with FUSION IP-Phone

Fusion Communications Corporation has formed an alliance with Yamaha Corporation as IP subscriber telephone service device partners to develop the RT56v router in the flagship NetVolante series, which goes on sale in mid-June, to be followed by the RTA55i. Both will be compatible with FUSION IP-Phone.

The Fusion Service Partner Alliance is a policy that Fusion has adopted to expand the IP telephone market based on an "open ISP" and "open vendor" approach. Yamaha's RT56v and RTA55i routers in its popular NetVolante series were developed for the corporate IP telephone service market based on Fusion's "open vendor" concept. They will be priced low and offer high functionality.

Sumisho Electronics Co., Ltd., the distributor of Yamaha routers, will sell the routers to phone equipment businesses and systems integrators, and provide technical support. The new routers will enable small and medium-sized businesses--the target customers--to switch to the FUSION IP-Phone network with a low initial outlay, and to lower monthly telecommunication costs.

Main Features and Benefits

1. Compatible with the IP subscriber telephone service

FUSION IP-Phone*, provided by Fusion, enables businesses to use IP phone services simply by hooking up standard business phones. Existing PBX devices can be connected to the routers for the easy introduction of an IP telephone system.

* Requires a separate contract with Fusion GOL, run by Fusion Network Services Corporation, and a FLET'S ADSL line from NTT East or NTT West.

2. FUSION IP-Phone lowers communications costs

By using FUSION IP-Phone, outside calls to anywhere in Japan become cheaper than a local call at 8 yen per 3 minutes, and free between mutual users of FUSION IP-Phone. Furthermore, because it is possible to both initiate and receive calls using the IP phone*, an NTT fixed-line telephone is not needed, except for emergencies, lowering the bulk of communications costs previously spent on leasing fixed lines from NTT.

* Calls will be receivable from fixed-line telephones starting this summer.

3. A single FUSION IP-Phone contract provides two channels

With one contract, the line is split into two channels. The RT56v and RTA55i routers will take advantage of this feature to provide multiple lines for business purposes.

Yamaha plans to continue developing new VoIP routers that will also be compatible with FUSION IP-Phone.

This cooperative arrangement between Fusion and Yamaha will expand the FUSION IP-Phone service for corporate users.
