Fusion Commences Dedicated-Line IP Telephone Service Using Wide-Area Ethernet Lines

Fusion Communications Corporation will begin offering dedicated-line IP telephone service via wide-area Ethernet (wide-area LAN) lines starting July 2. The addition of access via wide-area LAN IP line to its existing dedicated-line ISDN phone service allows the company to provide dedicated-line telephone service at a lower cost and meet customer needs with a wider array of services.

About the Service

1. Outline
This is a dedicated-line IP telephone service that uses wide-area Ethernet (wide-area LAN) lines.

IP lines are used for the access lines, but unlike IP telephone service using IP telephone numbers ("050" numbers), this is a fixed-line telephone service using OAB-J numbers, such as "03" for Tokyo.

This service allows telephone number portability, which means the customer's current NTT fixed-line telephone number can be used as is. In the future, the company also plans to introduce a toll-free service that works with 0120 and 0800 numbers.

Customers of this service not only can use their existing fixed-line telephone service at a lower cost, but also can use FUSION IP-Phone with their current fixed-line telephone numbers.

The company plans to introduce even more high-value-added fixed-line telephone services in the future; for example, creating services linked to advanced voice applications in the IP telecommunications environment.

2. Service plans

A. Basic plan (for initiating and receiving calls)

This is a dedicated-line IP telephone service for both initiating and receiving calls. It is available only for fixed-line phone numbers (OAB-J numbers, such as the "03" numbers for Tokyo).

The fee structure is based on the number of simultaneous call sessions (calling channels), making this the ideal plan for call centers and the outside telephone lines of large offices.

B. Plan exclusively for receiving calls

This is a fixed-line telephone service exclusively for receiving calls. It is meant to be used with FUSION IP-Phone via IP telephone numbers (050 numbers).

By combining a dedicated-line IP phone service for incoming calls with FUSION IP-Phone, customers can, for example, use their current fixed-line telephone numbers (OAB-J numbers) as IP-Centrex switchboard numbers, and their FUSION IP-Phone numbers (050 numbers) to allow callers to dial in to extension numbers.
