Fusion and Taiko Electric Team Up on Corporate IP Telephone Terminals
Solvonet Business Phone Series Compatible with FUSION IP-Phone

Taiko Electric Works, Ltd. has teamed up with Fusion Communications Corporation as a device partner to offer telephone terminals for use with Fusion's IP subscriber telephone service, FUSION IP-Phone. The Tokyo-based manufacturer of communications and information equipment announced on December 18 the release of the "Solvonet Series BR" all-in-one business phone with built-in broadband router that is compatible with FUSION IP-Phone.

The Fusion Service Partner Alliance is a policy that Fusion has adopted to expand the IP telephone market based on an "open ISP" and "open vendor" approach. The Solvonet Series of business phones comprises three types: Solvonet-EX and Solvonet-S models for small office/home office (SOHO) environments and small businesses; and the Solvonet-M model for medium-sized businesses. Taiko Electric's new Solvonet Series BR model was developed as a low-cost, high-performance business phone to expand corporate use of IP telephone services based on Fusion's "open vendor" concept.

The new IP phone set uses Internet-standard SIP and offers high-quality voice communications using the manufacturer's proven voice transmission technology. In addition, the router function supports DHCP (*1) and multiple sessions (*2).

Based on this partnership, Taiko Electric plans to work with Fusion to expand the range of IP phone services for business users. The company also aims to expand its share of the business phone market for small and medium-sized business enterprises by building economical intracompany IP networks using IP telephone services as well as Internet-VPN and IP-VPN technology.

(*1) Abbreviation for Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, an Internet standard protocol that allows IP addresses to be assigned dynamically when a client connects and pooled when a client disconnects.

(*2) A session is a logical connection between two systems from initiation to termination for data communications.
