Fusion and Quintum/YCS Tie Up in Corporate IP Phone Gateways
Line-Stabilizing Auto-Switching Quintum YCS SIP Gateway Now Compatible with FUSION IP-Phone

Fusion Communications Corporation and YCS Co., Ltd., an integration partner and the Japanese distributor for the U.S.-based manufacturer of IP phone gateways, Quintum Technologies, have teamed up as device partners and will start selling the Quintum YCS SIP Gateway for use with Fusion's IP subscriber telephone service, FUSION IP-Phone.

The Quintum YCS SIP Gateway is the FUSION IP-Phone compatible model of Quintum's original Tenor IP phone gateway. In addition to SIP operability, the gateway provides real-time call monitoring to ensure stable, high-quality calls. Also, if the corporate network does not support QoS for voice communications and call quality is threatened due to access line conditions, the gateway can transparently switch mid-call to the public telephone network. (Quintum owns a worldwide patent for this switching technology.)

The Quintum YCS SIP Gateway AS series provides analog line interfaces, while the BX series is for ISDN Basic Rate Interface (BRI) lines. The gateway can be easily connected to ordinary phones, central control units, and PBX systems with no change in how the phones work after installation. This makes it even easier to introduce FUSION IP-Phone to reduce telephone service costs.

Features of the Quintum YCS SIP Gateway

1. PacketSaver? (bandwidth reduction)
Combines voice packets from several calls being transmitted to the same IP address into a single packet to greatly reduce bandwidth usage and provide high-quality calls with the least bandwidth consumption.

2. NATAccess? (network address translation)
A special translation technology is employed during data transmissions to allow authorized traffic to pass through a NAT-enabled router or firewall.

3. SelectNet? (PSTN failover)
This technology constantly monitors call quality and provides automatic switching over to the public telephone network (through the Quintum YCS SIP Gateway) whenever conditions on the IP network threaten voice-call quality. It can even do this in mid-call. Even during a power outage or other failure, calls are automatically rerouted to the PSTN so that phone service never goes down.

YCS will continue bringing devices to market that are compatible with FUSION IP-Phone and will work together with Fusion based on the alliance to expand FUSION IP-Phone service.
