Fusion Receives Privacy Mark for Personal Data Protection Measures

Fusion Communications Corporation has received the "Privacy Mark," granted to private enterprises that adopt sufficient measures to properly protect personal data.

The Personal Data Protection Law went into effect in Japan in April 2005. With a rise in public awareness of information privacy issues, Fusion acknowledged its social responsibility as a telecommunications provider to properly use and securely control personal data, and on March 29, 2005 applied to the Japan Information Processing Development Corporation (JIPDEC) for Privacy Mark certification.

In advance of the application, Fusion launched a project in October 2004 centered upon on a task force whose members were chosen from each division. The task force was empowered to take stock of personal data, draft provisions, build an information control system, and carry out company-wide employee education on data security, which included specific instruction from specialists. These active efforts were designed and implemented in order to sharply increase awareness of information security discipline. On August 19, 2005, JIPDEC carried out on-site inspections that resulted in the granting of the Privacy Mark to Fusion, covering the company's head office and all of its branch offices across Japan.

Now that Fusion has been certified and granted the Privacy Mark, the company pledges to employ highly effective measures to protect personal data and further fortify its personal data security systems.
